Fireplace Cleaning in Mission Viejo, CA

What fireplace cleaning actually involves here

Most Mission Viejo fireplaces are factory-built. A metal zero-clearance box sits inside a framed stucco chase, topped with a sheet-metal cover and screened cap. Homeowners burn a few cold nights a year. Light use is not the same as clean.

Scrub brushes are chosen for the flue. Stainless double- and triple-wall pipe gets poly, not steel wire. Steel scores the liner and voids the listing. Refractory panels come out gently or not at all. The smoke shelf and damper plate hold more soot than the flue walls do. Unseasoned wood and construction scrap leave a thin glazed film that brushing alone will not take off.

The cap matters more than people expect. Spark arrestor screens clog with soot and nest material, and in wildland-interface neighborhoods that screen is also a fire requirement. Flat chase covers pond, rust through, then drip into the firebox and stain stucco below.

Gas log sets are a different job. No brushing. Burner ports, ember material, log placement, and the damper clamp get checked. Many retrofits went in without anyone looking up the flue.

Cleaning a prefab with cracked panels and a warped damper wastes money. We say so, and explain what we saw.
